Don’t Worry, Cleveland Still Has the Best Grilled Cheese Sandwiches at Melt

In honor of Melania Trump and the Republican National Convention, I will “borrow” text from this post from Yelp, TripAdvisor and other travel websites.

Four score and seven sandwiches ago, Melt in Cleveland, Ohio provided visitors with heaping helpings of cheesey goodness that defied sandwich convention. These things are so huge that they are delegates during the convention.

With seven locations around Ohio, Melt is the hands down (more like hands up) king of grilled cheese sandwiches in America. It lives the cliche that if you haven’t visited a Melt location, then you really didn’t go to Cleveland.

Going into it’s 10th year, it is now Ohio legend. Republicans can drown their misery with local craft beer and amazing cheese creations. There’s the Parmageddon — potato & onion pierogi, fresh Napa vodka kraut, sautéed onions, sharp cheddar. Mac & Cheese fans delve into the Mighty Macaroni — creamy homemade macaroni & cheese battered and deep fried, layered with cheddar cheese sauce & your favorite Melted cheese. Chick heads go for the Chicken & Waffles — crispy battered chicken, belgian waffle, sriracha butter, pepper-jack cheese & maple syrup for dipping.

While they have their tried and true staples, each location have monthly specials. Also, they have one of those eating challenges that shouldn’t be completely by anyone.

The moans you hear throughout the restaurant will hopefully be from people enjoying these pressed cheese delights. It truly is a thing of beauty.

At the original location in Lakewood, which is a decent distance from the dumpster fire of the RNC, you can enjoy the mural of famous locals like Drew Carey and Harvey Pekar.
