While you’re going old school in Spain, you also need to new school. Sooner or later, the new school will join the old school in one big glorious school. Time to get schooled.
Baster turned out to be one of favorite eats in Basque country. The decor had a quaint intimacy with the retro lighting and wooden table tops. The vermouth cocktails were mighty tasty where I sheepishly asked for a second. More than anything, the staff were super nice to me and gave me the thumbs up on my to-do list when I would go on to San Sebastian.
I endorse any local eatery that plays BritPop/Rock and Indie, which you will find within the bright white interiors at Bar Irrintzi. Its can’t-miss location on Santa Maria makes it easy to find. The young clientele and bright mural art on the walls makes it any enjoyable visit on your crawl.
Finally, there’s Con B De or Conbde also has a bright white interior and more modern take on pintxos. I’m a sucker for dumplings so I zeroed in on those bad boys. Bonus points to them for playing Louie Prima.
